The days when Arabic resources were limited to textbooks and articles printed out by your teachers are long gone – the internet is bursting at the seams with all kinds of Arabic resources, but they aren’t always easy to find. The variety of dialects means there’s a huge range of content out there, and the difficulties of a new alphabet can make it hard for beginners to search for their own Arabic language resources. We’ve put together a list of the best YouTube channels to make finding resources for your Arabic practice simple and easy!

First up, online Arabic lessons:

If you’re learning Modern Standard Arabic, these three YouTube channels for Arabic students will save you a lot of heartache:

Learn Arabic with Maha

Keep learning Arabic easy and breezy with fun video lessons from Maha. Perfect for beginners, this is the place to start! Maha also does lots of amazing resources for Levantine Arabic (especially Palestinian Ammiya), so make sure to have a look through the rest of her videos!

FC Lang Media

For intermediate and advanced students learning Arabic grammar, FC Lang Media could just save your life. Especially perfect for Arabic students studying the Al Kitaab curriculum, this channel has hundreds of videos on the grammar covered in the famous textbook series, explaining everything in minute detail. Missed a lesson or struggling to understand Kaana and her sisters? Let FC Lang Media explain it to you however many times you need!

Learn Arabic with Qasid

This is the official YouTube channel for the Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman, one of the most highly-regarded Arabic schools for non-native speakers in the world. Taught by their highly experienced teachers, the Arabic lessons on this channel are a goldmine for any Arabic student.

For Jordanian Ammiya, your first stop should be Qasid Institute’s Survival Arabic series, which will help you with everything practical from hailing taxis to greeting friends and ordering at restaurants. Taught by expert teachers from this world-renowned Arabic school, this series of videos is essential viewing for anyone visiting Jordan.

Mohamed Teaches Arabic

Moroccan Darija learners should head over to Mohamed Teaches Arabic – his clear transliterations and enthusiastic approach to teaching will have you ready for your next trip to the Maghreb in no time.

Emirati Arabic

Khaleeji Arabic students – don’t miss the Emirati Arabic channel by Al Ramsa Institute in Dubai. They’ve even done a bitesize series of one-minute videos each teaching one phrase or verb, so fitting Arabic into your day couldn’t be easier!

Now, let’s make it fun!

Fahad Sal

After all that, take a break from formal lessons and watch some more lighthearted videos in Arabic instead! Get started with Fahad Sal, a Saudi vlogger who has a great series covering all the different Arabic dialects you’ll find across the Middle East through fun videos with guest stars.

Mike Still

If you’re looking for a more enjoyable way to practice MSA but you’re struggling to find resources that aren’t news based, have a look at this video on Mike Still. Mike is a Brit who started out as an Arabic student himself and here he shares how he practices Arabic using cartoons, which are typically broadcast across the whole Middle East in Modern Standard Arabic. It’s not easy to find Arabic films or tv series in MSA, but kids’ cartoons and films are one of the exceptions.

AlComedy Club

Or try out some stand-up in Arabic on the channel AlComedy Club, a treasure trove of videos for those of you keen to learn conversational Arabic you can use with friends in casual settings (anyone else still never used all that hard-won United Nations vocabulary over drinks with friends?!).

Loubna Jaouhari

There’s plenty out there for Maghrebi Arabic learners too – take a look at Loubna Jaouhari’s channel for her fun satirical videos in Moroccan Arabic.

Basil Elhaj

If food is what you’re craving, check out Basil Elhaj, a Jordanian food vlogger. His laid-back, chatty style is the perfect way to practice Ammiya the fun way. We do warn you though, his videos will make you hungry!

Mummy in Amman

And now, we’ve saved the best for last – If you’re planning a trip to the Middle East, or getting ready for your year abroad, make sure to have a look at Mummy in Amman. The channel was set up by Rachel, a British woman married to a Jordanian who is raising her family in Amman. From culture shock to cultural no-nos, Rachel has been there and done it all, and she explains the ins and outs of life in the Middle East sensitively and perceptively. Whether you’re only going for a few weeks or planning a permanent move, Rachel’s videos are essential viewing if you’re heading out to the Middle East!

That’s a wrap! It’s so important to keep yourself motivated with a variety of language resources, especially when the language you’re learning is as challenging as Arabic, so add these channels to your collection of Arabic study tools to keep things interesting!
